Christmas has begun
For me, Christmas begins a few minutes after 10 a.m. Eastern time every year on December 24. Why? Because that’s when the first notes are heard from the broadcast of the Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols from King’s College in Cambridge. Someday I’ll stand in the long queue to hear this service in person.
As this post hits the Interwebs, the broadcast is about to begin. If you are in the US, tune in a local NPR station. In the UK, it’s on BBC Radio 4, but I didn’t need to tell you that. You can find this year’s program here. Online, the program is available for listening here or here. Here’s something to whet your appetite: the opening carol from 2008.
