Festivus

Allow me to take a break from Advent piety to wish everyone a happy and joyous Festivus.

I’m surprised there are no propers for Festivus in Holy Women, Holy Men. If there were, the Episcopal Church could probably get some more interest from Gen Xers. After the zydeco mass, the clown mass, the rave mass, and the U2 Eucharist, why not a Festivus Mass.

In 2000 when the Baltimore Ravens won the Super Bowl, Coach Brian Billick wouldn’t let anyone on the team utter the phrase “playoffs.” So the players started referring to “Festivus” instead. When they reached the Super Bowl, Billick started calling it “Festivus Maximus.” Just thought you’d want to know.
