All I would add is that whatever we want to make of those we disagree with, we cannot make of them whatever we will.

Armstrong is perhaps the most egregious example, but not the only one of “conservatives” who use politics as cover for their quest for power and money.

Several years ago, I was sued in my capacity as a warden, by the vicar of a mission congregation that at one time had been supported by my parish. The diocese had begun looking into some questionable financial transactions at the mission, and he tried to create a smokescreen.

He was deposed, but jumped to AMiA. The mission congregation said good riddance to him, and has since become a self-supporting parish. But he was also half-time rector of another parish, and he managed to convince those people that it was all a liberal plot, and took them with him.

I Pray that Mr. Armstrong, just like everyone I´ve ever known, takes responsibility for his actions…his REAL ACTIONS (that the best I can do because I believe/know others are often harmed, greatly harmed, by the irresponsible behavior of others).
